SUMMER

Hiking
In and around the village of Bad Mitterndorf there are numerous marked walking trails to suit all levels of fitness. As the valley is relatively flat, many of the trails are an easy relaxed stroll if you just want to get out into the fresh air and enjoy the views. On the other hand, if you are looking for a more challenging hike, there are plenty of longer or steeper trails onto the surrounding mountains to choose from.

Mountainbiking
Bad Mitterndorf lies at the heart of a long, wide, and relatively flat valley, which makes it the ideal place for casual cycling. In and around the village there are several marked cycling trails either on asphalted country lanes or following cross-country tracks through forests and along riverbanks.
For the more seriously sporty cyclists, Bad Mitterndorf offers tougher medium-length mountain-biking trails and a circular trail of 176 km with spectacular views of the Dachstein glacier.

Swimming
There is an outdoor swimming complex with heated water in Bad Mitterndorf.
In the surrounding area there are many beautiful alpine lakes where the water is crystal clear and of drinking-water quality. The Ödensee is only about 4 km away from Bad Mitterndorf, Grundlsee, Altausseer See, Putterersee (warmest lake in the Alps!), Toplitzsee and Hallstättersee are within 30 minutes drive from here.

Fishing
There are numerous beautiful, unspoilt lakes, rivers, and streams where you can try your hand at fishing with a fly or spinner for brown trout, arctic char, rainbow trout and pike. In fact, one of our local rivers – the Koppentraun – has been rated one of the best stretches of water in the world for fly-fishing!
